Hi I’m Catherine seeking election to Glen Eira Council in Bambra Ward to bring fresh ideas for more liveable and sustainable communities and environments.
I’m a local of 30 years raising 2 great young people. I have volunteered with my kids local schools and kinder’s in many ways - from extensive plantings in school grounds, advocating for safer walking and cycling routes, scooter and bike parking, fetes, writing for newsletters, covering library books, craft and cake stalls. I have been active on school council, parents assoc and multicultural and community engagement committees. I cofounded an innovative neurodiverse students support group with the principal’s encouragement - to promote support for people with neurodiversity and help parents navigate the education system.
In the community I am an active member of many local environment groups. I contributed to Glen Eira Councils environment and transport advisory committees.
I am an urban planner specialising in sustainable cities and have worked in many councils, state government and with professional and community organisations. I am an editor of Planning News writing articles and show-casing best practice.
I enjoy riding my bicycle (where there are safe routes) locally and for holidays with friends and family. I enjoy fitness classes at the Caulfield Recreation Centre – and coffee afterwards with friends.
I am a keen gardener at home, schools and the Glen Huntly laneways – growing plants for food flowers, biodiversity and attractive places.
My jam, home-grown flowers and plants are famous at school and community market stalls and as thank-you’s for guest speakers.
